Inland Rail Regional Opportunities Technical Report by EY Australia

Inland Rail Regional Opportunities technical report cover

This Technical Report provides a detailed summary of the approach, research methodology and supporting analysis for the Inland Rail Regional Opportunities study commissioned by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications in 2019.

Date
Monday 16 March 2020

This report should be read in conjunction with Inland Rail Regional Opportunities, which looked at the long-term potential for growth in investment, employment and economic value estimated in the first 50 years of Inland Rail’s operation.

Inland Rail Regional Opportunities found that the regional growth pathways from Inland Rail are the result of supply chain efficiencies coupled with value added opportunities. Combined, these two effects have the potential to deliver lasting economic benefits to Australia’s regions.

The Technical Report provides:

  • an explanation of the Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) modelling framework applied through the study, and
  • an account of the stakeholder engagement and research inputs to the study.
