Inland Rail Gladstone Link Prefeasibility Study

The department has completed a prefeasibility study on extending Inland Rail to the Port of Gladstone. The study considered the potential demand for freight services to and from Gladstone, in addition to the economic, financial, environmental and community consideration of a rail link.

The study was undertaken by an independent advisor and canvassed a range of issues including:

  • the likely demand for freight services
  • key alignments that could service the Port
  • the overall viability of a rail link.
