The Toowoomba office covers communities from Narrabri in New South Wales to Acacia Ridge in Queensland.
As the Regional Liaison Officer for the area from Narrabri to the Queensland border and across to Brisbane, I have come to consider the departmental vehicle as my ‘office’. Travelling to and through towns such as Gravesend, Beaudesert, Narrabri, Moree, Bingara, Gatton, Ipswich, Pittsworth, Brookstead, and Goondiwindi, I am fortunate to experience an office view of a diverse and rich landscape. In just one day the view can change from cotton crops to native bush to olive plantations and to wheat fields. Of course, harvest times brings further changes as crops disappear and the next cycle begins.
The variety of landscape is equalled by the variety of people I am privileged to meet and talk with. Small business owners, managers of grain handling sites, local government teams and landowners are among just a few of the amazing people who work across this area and with whom I have been able to meet with and discuss the opportunities arising from the Inland Rail project.
