The Regional Intelligence report for Victoria found Inland Rail can sustain another 940 full-time jobs by the rail line’s 10th year of operation for areas alongside the rail line between Melbourne and the New South Wales border.

Altogether, Inland Rail is capable of a $4.6 billion boost to gross regional product for the 49 local government areas covered in this research over a 50-year period. Those outcomes build on the jobs and economic uplift from construction and operation outlined in the 2015 business case for Inland Rail.

This economic study found Inland Rail can support a further 670 full-time jobs by the 10th year of its operation and a total $850 million boost to gross regional product over its first 50 years for areas between Narromine and the Victorian border.

It’s a boost that builds on the construction jobs and uplift identified in Inland Rail’s 2015 business case.

This research report found that Inland Rail could sustain another 590 full-time jobs for the areas between Brisbane and the New South Wales border by its 10th year of operation. 

Overall, Inland Rail can deliver a $700 million increase to southern Queensland’s gross regional product in its first 50 years of its operation.
 
This builds on the jobs and uplift from construction and operation in the 2015 business case for the infrastructure project.
