Release of draft Gowrie to Helidon flood report
The Independent International Panel of Experts for flood studies in Queensland (the Independent Panel) have released their draft flood report on the Gowrie to Helidon (G2H) section of Inland Rail in Queensland.
The Independent Panel was established by the Australian and Queensland governments to provide advice on the flood models and reference design developed by the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) for Inland Rail in Queensland.
The draft report by the Independent Panel undertook a comprehensive review of flood modelling and reference design solutions against Australian national guidelines and industry best practice to ensure the project can progress to the detailed design phase.
The Independent Panel will also take into consideration submissions to the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the G2H section of Inland Rail before finalising its report and advice to the governments. Local residents and stakeholders are invited to comment before the closing date of 25 October 2021 and this forms an important step in the regulatory approval process.
