Construction to commence on Inland Rail in Victoria
The Australia Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has signed a major contract worth approximately $200 million with McConnell Dowell for construction on the first tranche of Inland Rail works in Victoria.
The contract will see McConnell Dowell build on their initial works and designs and includes signaling and overhead utility works in addition to upgrades to existing rail infrastructure in Seymour, Glenrowan, Wangaratta and Barnawartha North.
Construction will support 170 jobs and is expected to bring new investment to these towns and other regional areas across Victoria.
‘Tranche 1 of Inland Rail in Victoria will bring tens of millions of dollars of new investment into Victorian towns such as Wangaratta, Glenrowan, Seymour and Barnawartha North, and we are proud to be playing a part in supporting local communities’, said Tom Foley, McConnell Dowell Tottenham to Albury Project Manager.
Construction work is expected to commence in late 2022.
